On previous posts I reviewed two fat burners, Twinlab’s Ripped Fuel and MuscleTech’s Hydroxycut Hardcore, today I’ll review BSN’s fat burning supplement Thermonex.
Thermonex is one of three fat burning and weight management supplements offered by BSN; the others are Atro-Phex and Cheater’s Relief, which I’ll review in future posts.

Let me start by analyzing some ingredients found in Thermonex’s formula, nothing revolutionary found here, in fact some ingredients are pretty common and some have no real conclusive evidence of weight loss or fat burning benefits.
Thermonex fat burning effects lies on caffeine and green tea content. Each serving of Thermonex has 300mg of caffeine that is included the caffeine found in the green tea and yerba mate, so if you’re sensitive to caffeine I would advise you not make use of this supplement at all.
Caffeine fat burning abilities are well known, and have been backed by various studies in different countries. By mixing caffeine with green tea, caffeine has it far burning abilities enhanced considerably.
Other ingredients found in Thermonex are, Octopamine, Evodia Rutaecarpa, Naringin and Advantra Z, all claimed to have fat burning abilities that have not yet been clinically proved.
Thermonex has three different thyroid hormone precursors’ l-tyrosine, diiodotyrosine and iodotyrosone. By improving thyroid functions it elevates metabolic rate, supporting reductions in body weight.
The Yerba Mate compounds found in this formula are another source for caffeine and are also responsible for increasing Octopamine’s bioavailability.
BSN claims that by adding Naringin to Thermonex’ formula it alleviates the typical “crash” caused by fat burners. Naringin prolongs the activity of the thermogenics and caffeine effects, making energy levels raise up gradually and come slowly preventing the so called “crash” associated with fat burners.
RECOMMENDED USE:
“As a dietary supplement, take 3 capsules 2 to 3 times daily, 30 minutes before meals and/or exercise. Begin use with half the recommended dosage (2 capsules 2 to 3 times per day) to assess your tolerance. To avoid sleeplessness, do not take within 4 hours of bedtime. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day. Experienced thermogenic users may achieve maximum fat loss and energy enhancement at a dose of 4 capsules 3 times per day. For best results, take 3-4 capsules 3 times daily and use as part of a low-fat diet and exercise program. Do not exceed 12 capsules within a 24-hour period.”
