Murilo Ninja Retires from Pro MMA

This past Sunday (22 May) Murilo “Ninja” Rua retired from pro MMA after over 10 years of fighting as pro MMA fighter. The Brazilian, see who is brother to former UFC Champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, there announced his retirement after a knockout loss by Tom Watson during their recent middleweight title fight at BAMMA 6.

Murilo Ninja is native of Curitiba, Brazil, home of the feared Chute Boxe Vale Tudo Team which formed Champions Wanderlei Silva and Ninja’s brother Mauricio Shogun. With a respectable record of 20-12-1 (w l d) Ninja said he still wont to be involved with the sport and has plans to coach and help pro fighters train.

The experienced fighter used Twitter to announce his retirement and here is what he said:

” Congrats to my opponent Tom Watson for the win @bammauk tonight, he was better and deserved it… I would like to announce officially my retirement from PRO MMA fights tonight. It was an amazing run, and it’s a very tough moment but there comes a time for all in life, and it’s time to move on. I am proud of all I did in MMA and all experiences I had. I will continue to work with MMA, doing seminars, teaching classes, training fighters, and doing my share to help our sport that I love so much. It’s time now to help others and enjoy my family, my wife, my kids and move one.

I want to thank so much all the fans for all the support, always helping me out and giving me all incentive. Brazil, Japan, USA, England, Canada, Australia. All places I fought, thanks so much!!
